چکیده

In the present work, existing Indian elastic rail clip steel (tempered martensite) is microstructurally modified to bainite using austempering route. Crevice corrosion of (ERC) major concern as metal dissolution can cause loosening assembly (such clipinsert and clipliner) lack performance. Furthermore, surface exposed atmosphere could also be affected by corrosive environment. The work concentrates on findings crevice wetdry salt fog exposure austempered ERC steels in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution for 30 days compared with asreceived (existing) which consists tempered martensitic structure. severity has been investigated studying rust formed surfaces after tests. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) optical profilometry have used analysis behaviour. Moreover, characterised SEM shows presence various phases, such αFeOOH, βFeOOH, γFeOOH, αFe2O3, etc. Raman spectroscopy confirmation quantification these phases. higher protective ability index (PAI) calculated from quantitative assessment different measured better resistance stee

Prediction of corrosion rate of AZ31B magnesium alloy under salt fog environment in NaCl solution

Magnesium alloys have gained considerable interest as a material for automotive and aerospace applications due to its low density, high specific strength, and good castability. However, another considerable issue is their corrosion properties. This restricts their practical applications. In this present research, corrosion behavior of the AZ31B magnesium alloy was evaluated by conducting salt f...

Study on Corrosion Behavior of Pearlitic Rail Steel

The present study is an attempt to find out the effect of environmental corrosion on the commonly used pearlitic rail steel. The cases of corrosion of rail under Indian environment have been studied. It has been found that in marine environment both the yield strength and tensile strength decreases with increasing corrosion rate. In acidic environment yield strength increased with increasing co...

Effect of Alloying Elements on Crevice Corrosion Inhibition of Nickel- Chromium-Molybdenum-Tungsten Alloys under Aggressive Conditions: An Electrochemical Study

The effects of Cr, Mo and W on the crevice corrosion of a number of commercial Ni-Cr-Mo (W) alloys in 1.0 mol/L NaCl were studied using the potentiodynamic-galvanostaticpotentiodynamic technique to measure film breakdown and repassivation potentials as well as protection temperatures. As expected, Cr is the key element determining resistance to crevice initiation but a substantial Mo alloy cont...

Failure Of Prestressing Steel Induced By Crevice Corrosion In Prestressed Concrete Structures

The application of prestressed concrete technology in civil structures is relatively recent. Therefore, the existing prestressed concrete members in such structure are still relatively young, and the corrosion and the concrete deterioration problems associated with this type of concrete members have became clearly evident only in the early 1980s. Damage during service, frequently appearing afte...
